When ever you Invest in Indonesia, you have to have a Business License along with a Business Identification Number. Oftentimes, Entrepreneurs are confused about the rules and obligations that must be fulfilled in order to running their business in Indonesia,

There are several Business Permits that must be fulfilled by Enterprenurs / Company before and/or while running their business in Indonesia :


  • NIB (Bussiness Identification Number); is a identity number for enterpreneurs that issued by the government through the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

  • Bussiness Licence (Main Bussiness Licence); Legality to run a business based on Standard Business Field Classification or Klasifikasi Baku Lapangan Usaha Indonesia (KBLI 2020).

  • KKPR (Kesesuaian Kegiatan Pemanfaatan Ruang) / Spatial Utilization Activities Suitability; Conformity Between Your Business Spatial Utilization Activity Plan With the Spatial Plan or Rencana Tata Ruang (RTR) of the Indonesian Territory.

  • Sertifikat Standar (Standard Certificate); in the context of carrying out business activities, enterpreneurs are required to fulfill standard certificates from each business sector they carry out.

  • PB-UMKU (Bussiness Licence to Support Main Bussiness Activity); Permits required for business activities and/or products during the operational and/or commercial stages.

  • API-U and/or API-P (Importer Identification Number) [optional] ; API-U (General Import Identification Number) : selected for import activities of goods traded/resold. API-P (Producer Import Identification Number): selected for import activities of goods that are used alone as capital goods, raw materials, auxiliary materials, and/or materials to support the production process

  • LKPM (Investment Activity Report) [optional] ; reports on the development of investment realization and problems faced by eterpreneurs, which must be prepared and submitted periodically. Usually need to be reported by large-scale bussiness and/or PMA (Foreign Investment Company)

  • Other Bussiness Permit; such as Building Permit (PBG for new building, SLF for existing building), S.I.P.A or Groundwater Utilization Permit for bussiness activity that use ground water as main water source, SINAS for Industrial type of Bussiness, SIRENG/SURE for Real Estate type of bussiness, NPPBKC for Identity Number of a business related to excise goods, and many more.
